I didn't really know what to expect during my first week as a Freelance Web Designer/Developer. I knew there was a lot of setting up to do, marketing and putting myself out there on Freelance websites. Most of my week consisted of making lots of hot chocolate and constantly refreshing People Per Hour waiting for a new job to ask questions and make proposals.
It was nice not having to set my alarm at 7.30am, having to shower and sitting in traffic or using public transport to get to my destination. The only hold ups I had was any obstacles on my staircase, so the only hold up of the week was 4 seconds, and that was due to picking up a t-shirt from my bedroom floor.
After making lots of proposals, I finally had a breakthrough and sold my first website as a full time Freelancer! It only took a few days, and to say I was happy would be a complete understatement.
Just a couple of days later, I arranged a meeting with a shoe company based in Woolwich who were looking for an eCommerce website improving their existing site. It felt a bit bizarre taking my first meeting, but I have to say I loved every minute of it. The talks went well, and I managed to sell my second website in my first week!
So, not a bad first week at all. Plenty of hot chocolates down me, a meeting under my belt, and two websites in the bag!
